The design, development, and management of this portal are the property of the Terni Events and Communications Association. However, the portal's development is the result of collaboration between all the city's forces, businesses, and associations. All the historical and religious information on this website is based on authentic sources found in the archives and libraries of the city and the Umbria Region, some dating back to the 4th century AD. The Basilica of San Valentino, dating back to the 3rd century AD, unequivocally testifies to the presence of Saint Valentine in this city. The last archaeological evidence was the discovery in the 17th century of "a marble chest containing all his bones," officially recognized as belonging to Saint Valentine by local authorities based on comparisons with historical documents. The City of Terni's age-old devotion to its patron saint has its origins in a pagan devotion dating back approximately two thousand years, which later evolved into a nascent Christian devotion, given the religious importance Saint Valentine held in the early centuries of nascent Christianity. Today, this age-old devotion is expressed through the love for Saint Valentine, a love that every citizen holds dear. This love extends beyond the city limits to extend throughout the world, making Saint Valentine not only the patron saint of the City of Terni, but also the patron saint of lovers, due to the historical circumstances, love, and popular beliefs that bind him to these places, and the numerous legends that have always surrounded him over the centuries.
